"The Liberal Democrats are the only mainstream party committed to scrapping university tuition fees," said Dave Radcliffe.

"The Liberal Democrats are the only mainstream party committed to scrapping university tuition fees," says Lib Dem Prospective MP Dave Radcliffe. Dave has pledged to vote against any increase in student fees.

"The Labour government wants to increase fees, while business leaders want to scrap grants, and charge commercial interest rates on student loans.""

In 2001 Labour promised not to introduce top up fees. But Labour quickly broke that promise and put fees up to £3,000 a year. The Conservatives have also abandoned free education. They could more than double fees to £7,000 a year.

Gordon Brown's Labour government have also been slashing university funding. Labour have cut £600 million from universities and some universities are now having to make redundancies. This is at the same time as record numbers of people are applying to study at university.

Dave Radcliffe said: "These cuts make no sense when so many people want to study at university. Over 160,000 people could miss out on university because of this Labour government."
